Adopt Mouse a White Beagle / Mixed Breed (Medium) / Mixed (short coat) dog in

Location:
Charlottesville, VA
Description:

My name is Mouse and the name suits me perfectly as I am small as a mouse, quiet as a mouse and shy as a mouse. And I sometimes get up to some mischief like a mouse. My foster family has needed to use a heavy cast iron pan as my water dish because I play around in the water and tend to knock it over. I am a tiny Beagle, about 2 years old, but since I was found as a stray, it's anyone's guess. I am very active and love to play, spending as much time as I can out in the yard. I am working on my house training. My foster family tries to watch me and correct accidents or praise me good behavior, but I am much too fast and sneaky for that! I am crate trained and will sleep quietly through the night waiting patiently for my family to wake up in the morning. I am trying to learn the dog door, but it's a bit too scary for me. I think maybe I spent a lot of my short life outside. It has taken me awhile to adjust to living in a house. Typical noises startle me and, although I am slowly learning that there's nothing to worry about, I would not do well in a city or apartment living as the sounds would be overwhelming. I need a home with a fenced yard. I'm at my happiest when I can be out in the fresh air, playing with other dogs, chewing on a toy, or just running because I can. I love other dogs and have made instant friends with the other foster dogs that I have met in my temporary home. So I need a home with at least one other dog with a similar energy and activity level. I need a family that understands I have been through a lot so they must be very patient with me. I need to be allowed to adjust to my new surroundings on my own terms. I am learning a little every day that people are my friends but it can be hard to be trusting. I know it will be a big adjustment to go to a new home because learning that I am part of a family has been a whole new experience for me. I have a very sweet personality, once it begins to shine through my shyness! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $250.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 05/06/2024
